Holding out on EPUB3 Gets Harder as UX Gets Better

But holding out is getting ever harder to justify, especially as digital production specialists become more adept at utilizing EPUB3’s features to improve the user experience.

“If for no other reason, I am excited about using EPUB3 for the rich navigation it affords,” writes Laura Brady, Principal at Brady Type.

“Particularly in nonfiction titles, giving the reader a number of ways to access content is a fairly simple but robust way to offer a deeper e-reading experience.”

Explaining how to build those tools in EPUB3, Brady shows how “not all innovation needs to be disruptive in order to be rich.”
